A Cookbook

I might venture to say that everyone learning to prepare some type of food has used a cookbook or listened to someone in the kitchen speak to them on what to add next from the recipe or the cookbook select page. Recipes, pictures, and ingredients can become unending expressions of cultural foods worldwide, while at home in the kitchen, creating the same or various dishes can be applied the same. The cookbook is the guide to create cookies, cakes, and casseroles. When a recipe is your choice for a special reason, there is an excitement or joy to see the finishing touches like an artist. Recently, I prepared vegetable dishes weekly as I often do to keep the hobby momentum of cooking going. The design and flavors of food exchanges were colorful and fun. I made some delicious salmon patties and added throughout the week spinach, rice, Cous Cous, Brussel sprouts and sauces to match. These were a few selections in my weekly meal plans. Although, these dishes are easily made, they require planning, prep, and kitchen resources to cook them in or on the stove.
When there is no planning or prep for meals, the length of time to cooking can be exhaustive and time consuming or lack the desired ingredients in a finished meal. Often, when someone is dealing with an issue of life there may be an oversite to pick up the Bible or a novice in finding a scripture verse that speaks to our needs. Just as I may say, "What am I going to cook today." I may have to ask God, "What word do I need that will minister to me today, what should I pray, where do I need to do a devotion or hear a word from You?" Absence of preparation, can lead to being unable to blend routines and schedules of where God wants our to focus and where we are already in the process of being guided to, from the Holy Spirit (God). The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the revealer of truth and as we pray a prayer and seek the will of God to give insight to a verse or message that speaks to our lives as there becomes a beginning towards having peace and way of knowing how God can put together the ingredients of our recipes as the starting steps begins.
Recipe Sharing:
Seeking to Finish-- a task
Scripture Focus and Support-- Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
Action Aim-- I created OPC, Organization, Planning, and Completion for specifics and minimal things to get done, and this was one of the scriptures that was a focus aside devotions, Bible study, attending classes and worship services.
Why the task? I used this verse in the Holy Bible to manage and guide procrastination, while maintaining confidence and perseverance to stay the course whether challenged by frustrations or things that are delightful.
As you prepare meals from your cookbook, remember God too has a table where He welcomes you in and wants to reveal His word to you. Search through your Bible, a Bible commentary, or a website such as Bible Gateway or Bible HUB online.
