When we hear the word basketball, we automatically think sports and competitiveness. People running up and down the court wanting to score, by shooting hoops, 2 to 3 point shots, while free throws are always received by the players. These free throws are like getting extra bonus money. The Bible says, “Commit your way [to] the Lord, trust in Him and He will bring it to pass.” Psalm 37:5 When we are committed to living for the Lord He will enable us to do that which we are called to attain and accomplish.
Things needing to be accomplished at home, office, or other assignments may be done by shooting a task into the hoop of schedules and daily routines. Shooting tasks into the net and making baskets in whatever needs to be done, places a score on the board when creating, developing, completing goals. When was the last time you scored a basket? When something has been worked on in great length and overcome by the agony of defeat, it’s a great SCORE for your personal esteem.
Place that ball of papers on your desk in the trash or folders. Exercise by hand-washing your car while saving money or purchasing a healthy treat afterwards. Create a rotating flex schedule on-demand, but not a command of all your time. This will help you know how nice it is in “making a basket, a ball”. Have a ball this year by placing in your heart the goal of accomplishment. I give you permission to, “Throw out 1 or 2 pairs of those worn out shoes.
