"Is God Patriotic?"
Patriotism in America is seen as . . .
freedom, liberty, and justice
challenging, seeking, and accommodating
reflective, introspective, and political.
America has many connotations regarding characteristics defining patriotism. "Land of the Free." "Let freedom ring." "Give me liberty or give me death." "God is just." If you are a reader of news, books, and a listen as conversation occurs, hearing these expressions may be familiar.
Expressing the Biblical text, John 3:16, "For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever [believes] in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." This verse speaks to, "God being a just God." One who is just.
But is God Patriotic?
The characteristics previously listed indicate, God's salvation offering a frame to honor, respect, accept and being apart of belief. When posed with patriotism people accept or refrain from a
personal point of view of justice and freedoms. A patriotic way of expressing freedom through faith in God, is to love God and to love thy neighbor as thyself. (Mark 12:30).
God is the creator of freedom and justice therefore not dismissing the point of view to see characteristics of patriotism. The notion of praying for the people and the land we live is important to the Creator who made it and the people who live on the earth. In expressing love and rights in a country of accessibility, ability to do is a valued option to see thankfulness, when recognizing the way personal actions bring about effective working results.
Godly patriotism,
